I quit using pure will power
Every previous attempt to quit was torturous and ended in failure with another kick to the ego. As soon as I decided I was totally fed up with smoking and wanted to become a non-smoker, I quit. Cravings were frequent at first but always easily drowned out by a much louder inner voice saying "NO MORE!!!".
I was a serious chain smoker for 35 years; I thought I would die a smoker. If I can quit, so can you, and you can do it with nothing more than the sheer will to quit. Addiction counselors and others will always downplay will power for obvious reasons. Don't be their sucker - if you want to quit, you and you alone have the power. Use that power, and regain the self respect you deserve for doing it!
