What if the ancients were serious?

While researching The Last Byzantine, I became convinced that, unlikely as it might seem, a Secret of the Ages had passed between the Mayans, Egyptians, Hebrews, Buddhists, Hindus, Taoists, Christians and Moslems. That prophecies foretold by one group might be the same ones referred to by people of other faiths.

Where do we find signs of the End Times? In Scriptures? Ancient symbols? Monuments?
Constellations? Planetary alignments? Might they coincide and mean the same thing? Could science offer any sort of confirmation? With an open mind, I set out to solve the puzzle.
My first clue came in a comparison of Mayan myth and Christian revelation. I had heard the Mayans viewed December 21, 2012 – the death of the old Sun -- as a sacred date. It was even said they saw that month as the scheduled return of God!

Of particular interest to me was how they calculated Ages of the gods. For the Greeks, an Age of the nymphs and gods was 10 Phoenix periods, or 5,000 years. For the Mayans, it came out nearly the same: 1 baktun = 144,000 days; and 13 baktuns = an Age of the gods (5,125 years); and five of these "Suns" = a full Precession of the Equinoxes. The 144,000 reminded me of a couple of places in the Bible where this number crops up. I had heard it was a number sacred to the Hindus as well.

This brought to mind another unusual number in the Revelation, the infamous 666. What could that be?

Again, I looked to the Cycle of Precession. Zoroaster had said that a great comet, his devil Ahriman, strikes Earth twice each cycle, which he viewed as requiring 24,000 years. 24,000 divided by 360 degrees = 66.6 years to one degree. Did St. John agree?
Censorinus had said this "Greatest Year" of Aristotle brings us two disasters. The one in winter is called the Cataclysm or Deluge; the one in summer, called Ekpyrosis, is a Conflagration of the World. Since pole reversals are known to happen at such times, it is hard to say which is which. One can be at the beginning of winter one day and at the beginning of summer the next.

Prophecies seemed to confirm each other, so I went looking for ancient symbols.
What I found were cosmic symbols for what we call Christmas and Easter – Creation and Destruction. Both are revealed on a Cross. The Mayans depicted the death of the old Sun as a sacrifice where the Eclipse crosses the Milky Way.
Destruction they remembered as something fierce falling from the heavens.
Hebrews remembered the Cross as the Tav of Moses, a planetary alignment that happened at the moment of the Exodus. The Egyptian Cross was the Ankh. Christians draw their Cross from the story of Jesus. Without using symbols, Moslems remember the End as "The Event." Hindus know it as "Kali Yuga." An important question for the future will be:
How close in time are the two powerful events?

Viewing how planet symbols are aligned in the Dresden Codex page 74 (Venus, Mars and the Sun on the West and Mercury, the Moon and Jupiter on the East), March 4, 2015 appears to be a second-half marker for the Tribulation. This reappearance of the Word is a dangerous one.
What about monuments? How do we know the end is nigh?

The oldest monument probably anywhere is the Egyptian Sphinx – a half-woman, half-lion that eternally marks the Age when Leo meets Virgo. Viewed from the Earth, that moment last happened about 10,801 BC, just when the Clovis Comet destroyed America. And believe it or not, if you could fly a billion miles above the Sun to view the solar system heliocentrically, guess what you would see December 21, 2012. ... Yes, the Sun again
crosses from the tail of Leo into Virgo; and the Virgin is bearing a son – Saturn.
Are there other monuments? In Egypt, there are at least two. Nestled between
the paws of the Sphinx is a tablet from Thutmosis IV showing two lions back-toback,
signifying the last time Precession began to reverse itself. Another is the Stela
of a Harpist showing the two eyes of Ra (or Horus), depicting the other central
point of the Precession – this time the beginning of Aquarius -- which we may
observe from Earth as early as Feb. 27, 2013 – the birth of the New Sun.

In America, there is the Pyramid of Kukulcan with its equinoctial shadow. At
Stonehenge, winter's Draco awaits the day of reversal when he replaces Lupus (The
Beast). In Ohio, a Serpent Mound makes the same point.
Do planetary alignments sometimes signify destruction? Censorinus said they did.
Seneca and Berosus said they did. Moses observed the first Passover with a conjunction of the Moon, Venus, Mercury and the Sun. For the Mayans, the Sun in Aquarius with Venus, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter and the Moon spells danger.
What does science say is hazardous about the period we are entering? British astronomers Victor Clube and Bill Napier say 2000-2400 AD will be a period when remnants of a great comet intersect Earth's orbit.
Scientist Dr. Paul LaViolette says a superwave of cosmic dust and cosmic rays is breaking through the heliosphere to heat up the Sun. Supervolcanoes, plagues, earthquakes and solar eruptions are overdue; and people now exceed the world's food supply.
So ... among my many reasons for writing The Last Byzantine was a message I am compelled to deliver::

The End Times are upon us; and the ancients have been warning us for centuries!

------------>>>

The fourth seal breaks
while the Sun joins Aquarius.
A quarter of the world's
people will be in danger; and
the survivors of Hell on
Earth will blame the world's
religious for their many
misfortunes. Revelation 6:7-11

Finally, we will understand the myths and mysteries our ancestors
revealed and our religious leaders concealed.

The change of the skies will be almost as sudden as if one passed a
compass over a lodestone. The lodestone could be the Milky Way
stretched between Ursa Minor (our present north) and the great Delta
or Sacred Heart of the now-southern sky.
The needle of Earth's compass appears to run along the Pole of the
Word. The entire Universe will appear to flip over as we go through
the gate, but that of course will be an illusion. Our Earth will simply
shift its poles back to where they were before Draco ruled the zenith of
the north.
Unfortunately, the switch does not go smoothly. The outer Earth
takes time to catch up with what has already happened in her excited
volcanic innards. 2 Kings 20: 9-10 , Bundahishn 3:24-26 & Hesiod's Theogony

Now the Virgin returns, the reign of Saturn returns,
now a new generation descends from Heaven on high. Virgil, 4th Eclogue

Behold, a virgin shall
conceive, and bear a son. Isaiah 7:14

Synopsis:

Modern liberty was forged as a conspiracy in the Renaissance, heated by the twin fires of Jihad and Inquisition. The Last Byzantine is a first-hand look at this time when Greek wisdom and Roman values had to be salvaged from the wreckage of Old World theocracy.

In a lifelong quest for Truth, John Palaeologus has discovered the centuries-long religious war of the End Times is a colossal mistake of secrets forgotten and common doctrine twisted over time. Unfortunately, his audience couldn't be less sympathetic. He has been captured by the Spanish Inquisition. In the 40 days he has to confess his sins, the rightful heir of Byzantium writes an autobiography of love, conspiracy and adventure spanning the Mediterranean.

John's target for persuasion is the next Grand Inquisitor. His hope is to pass the baton of civilization to the heirs of Rome along with a prophecy of what is yet to come.

This King Arthur story begins in the village of Mystras, where the boy as an orphan witnesses mysteries from Rome's ancient past. He moves to Constantinople with the court, only to find that city headed toward its greatest catastrophe in a thousand years.

Just before the fall of the city in 1453, the boy learns the truth about his family. Captured as a slave, he comes of age as a janissary, exploring love and spirituality and getting to know his enemies. John spends the rest of his life as a Renaissance man on a mission -- to revive the culture of Wisdom and Freedom.

The Last Byzantine is a novel; it's a prophecy; and it's a book of wisdom from the ancients for a New Age. Incidents from throughout this 15th century life highlight the difficulty of living up to one'sideals, of finding and hanging onto love, and how good and evil are rarely kept apart on this side of the Styx. The book explores the birth of the modern world from the ashes of the old.

This is the book that had to be written after 9/11 and before 2012. The author says his inspiration came from living through the attack on the Pentagon and asking, "So why all the hate and how do we get over it?" His journey led him to create a character who could walk through the ideological minefield and come out the other side understanding ideas that connect East and West. The result is inspirational fiction with something for every student of history, religion, the occult and prophecy.

This novel by Ken McClellan has a special message for everyone...it truly touched my heart. If there is one book that everyone should read, this is it! It will take you through a spiritual journey that will have you yearning for more! There is so much to take in that I am reading it for a third time! The ability of the author to "break down" history and religion and relate it to our world today is amazing! I definitely give it two thumbs WAY up!

5.0 out of 5 stars Compelling and Informative.....a wonderful read, August 5, 2009
By Carolyn K. Nytch "CKN" (New York)

Ken McClellan writes a thoroughly researched and brilliantly insighful history set during the 15th century fall of Byzantium and subsequent expansion of the Ottoman Empire. Woven throughout is the compelling and heartbreakingly human story of the righful heir to the Byzantine throne. Ken has a magnificent mastery of history, philosophy, ancient religions, astrology and how mankind is ever repeating the same mistakes in his quest for power and wealth. For anyone on a spiritual journey it is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY WORTHY READ TO HEED, July 10, 2009
By FRL

Ken McClellan speaks through this book with the voice of the prophet: "he who neither listens to nor learns from the past is doomed to repeat the past.
This thoroughly researched book - by one in possession of prodigious mind and intellect - in the fields of the religious faiths and belief systems, the history,
the myths, the fallibility of humanity, the failures of reigning leaders and populations throughout ancient history to attempt to understand one another, instead,
conquering and imposing their wills unilaterally, exposes the propensity of humanity to continue the same vulnerabilities in our day and age.
The late Edward E. Edinger, America's foremost Jungian analyst wrote just after the Oklahoma City bombing: "Terrorism is a manifestation of the psyche. It is time we recognized the psyche as an autonomous factor in world affairs. "The psychological root of terrorism is a fanatical resentment - a quasi-psychotic hatred originating in the depths of the archetypal psyche and therefore carried by religious (archetypal) energies.... "Articulate terrorists generally express themselves in religious (archetypal) terminology. The enemy is seen as the Principle of Objective Evil (Devil) and the terrorist perceives himself as the "heroic" agent of divine or Objective Justice (God). This is an archetypal inflation of demonic proportions which temporarily grants the individual almost superhuman energy and effectiveness. To deal with terrorism effectively we must [first, brackets mine] understand it." That essentially is what author Ken McClellan, after having lived through the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, is attempting to do. To help us first to understand in order to effectively deal with hate. The remedy is clear.
The remedy - as espoused by the author - is to read, to listen and to heed if we would change from a course of history pointing to complete annihilation to one of beginning the
attempt to search for common ground.

5.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, thought-provoking, informative - a good read, July 30, 2009
By BPR

This novel is set in the last half of the 1400s amidst Moslem and Christian invasions and conquests. The reader follows the life of a young boy with a secret but prominent lineage, through the fall of his city and his subsequent years as a janissary in the Ottoman army, his escape and years of freedom in search of ultimate Truth for the salvation of civilization, and his eventual end at the hands of the Spanish Inquisition. His struggle for survival amidst the religious and political forces of his time are both historically and spiritually enlightening. It shows the religious and political intrigue that have always plagued mankind in the quest for spiritual and material power over each other. But it also shows the commonalities of Jewish, Christian, and Islamic faiths through which all peoples can come together in belief of the Supreme Being (by whatever name called), if the corrupted and corrupting dogma and doctrines of man can be set aside. Ken McKlellen has presented a thoroughly researched history lesson in a palatable story form, and has offered a rare detailed view of ancient religious thought and symbolism. (My eyes did glaze over, though, in chapter 50, which seems to me to be a catch-all for such information that could not be woven into the story!) This is a wonderful book for better understanding the religious conflict and confusion of our day, and I recommend it for any seeker of spiritual truth.

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting work of prose that encourages the reader to ask many questions, October 9, 2009
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA)

No one listens to a heretic. "The Last Byzantine" tells the story of one of the last heirs of the Roman empire, and the Spanish Inquisition that seems to be intent on preventing the truth from getting out. But it seems this truth may be what's needed to stop the oncoming Ottomans from marching right into Europe and claiming it as their own. An exploration of medieval politics with allegories to the modern day, "The Last Byzantine" is an exciting work of prose that encourages the reader to ask many questions.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good!, August 29, 2009
By Logan (NY)

I really enjoyed this book-while it is a bit of a tedious read it is extremely thought-provoking. The author has done an incredible amount of research and has fantastic attention to detail. There are many great quotes and references throughout this book, that would make it worth the read even without the main storyline. While I can't say I agree with all of the specific details (it is a bit heavy on astrology) the general message of the book could not be more appropriate in the aftermath of 9/11. Well done!

4.0 out of 5 stars '"We lost her when we divorced Freedom from Virtue and God from Wisdom.", September 11, 2009
By Readers Favorite "Readers Favorite" (Hawesville, KY USA)

The story begins in 1444 Mystras with the birth of the narrator, John IX Palaeologus. He was abandoned by his mother and adopted by Emmanuel and Diana, a baron couple. It is obvious he was loved. They secretly read to him from the scriptures. His father taught him to do battle.

Paleologus stands before the Inquisitor stating the truth knowing that doing so he will die. He shares the cruelties of Nero. He refers to him as the antichrist. He continues by imparting the history of the 1400s. It was a time of battle, a vicious time with torture and cruelty. Cloistered women were treated as though they were prostitute.

John formed a plan. He'd survived the plague when he was a child. He saw what such a disease would do. He used a vial of the disease and a bag of mosquitoes to infect the Pope. He accomplished his mission.
The Last Byzastine reads like a diary. Paleologus stands before the Inquisitor stating the truth knowing that doing so he will die. "Byzantium was founded on the knowledge and values of Greece and Rome. We lost her when we divorced Freedom from Virtue and God from Wisdom. Like the Israelites of old it was our turn to suffer."

I'm really at a loss for how to review this book. The history is beautifully shared. It is the prophecy troubles me. I suppose it was meant to. Frankly, I found it difficult to understand. I am a Christian and it does not fit in completely with my beliefs. What troubled me most was has to do with my belief that the only way to the Father is through the Son. The author does not agree with this belief. The prophecy was difficult for me to understand. However, all in all this is an interesting read. Scholars and theologians will enjoy The Last Byzantine.

Much thanks to Ken McClellan/ConCen You who help Us on Our journeys!!

We WANT to:
Gather and cross-check vast amounts of knowledge in many dozen specialized fields from scientists and researchers around the globe in addition to studying hundreds of historical documents spanning back to the dawn of history. These fields include archeology, geology, astro, geo & quantum physics, ancient languages & civilizations, paleontology, ancient history, genetics and others.

Events shape our lives, even distant and dark ones. From the time I was a wee little one, I have stopped my fear of dark places. I pick up my torch and journey alone through darkened corridors leading down into bottomless caverns of events past. I stumble upon the remnants of an intricate puzzle, which I bring back with me, and in the quiet of my dreams, are assembled before me.

The turning of the stars bring a time when my secrets can give you immortality.
but when that time has passed, those fleeting minutes gone, the secret is worthless.
until once again the stars unlock its power.
