Thanks!
This is really good.
Lots of old TV footage
Lots of old TV footage showing just how crazy it got. Fear makes it so much easier to separate a fool from his money.
I knew Y2K was fake back in 1995, when I noticed that PC BIOSes which had used 4 digit years prior to 1994, suddenly started using 2 digit years. WTF??
PC makers were claiming their BIOS could not be made Y2K compliant, telling gullible customers to buy new "Y2K compatible" PCs. We had BIOS updates for most PCs that solved the issue, which would be reversed with manufacturer updates! These greedy fuckers were fleecing their own customers until word got out, then they backed off.
I was hired several times in various Y2K compliance audits for the feds and private industry. They were mostly make work projects costing taxpayers big time. Simple adjustments to backend databases and a bit of glue code did the trick. One upside was that a lot of other bad code got updated or rewritten using Y2K budgets paid for by tax breaks.

Yeah, 2000 was about as big a bust as 2012 also turned out to be. I don't believe in hype or prophesy anymore lol
I like how this documentary is just a collage of old archived footage. No current "talking heads" interviews like most documentaries. It must have taken a while to put together...
I only vaguely remember the Y2K phenomenon as it was happening, and I most definitely wasn't concerned as a pothead teenager! I guess I can thank all the code writers who fixed the initial problem, before it turned into a profitable corporate affair!
