1. They don't make the files smaller because almost all files these days are already compressed
2. They prevent viewing the contents
3. The content search feature can't find the contents
4. They prevent people from downloading only the parts of the torrent that they want

Thanks for sharing, but I am also able to upload full archives of C2C going back to 2004 or so as well...
