Comment:
Most modern films about PSYOPS are psychological warfare themselves, merely serving the purpose of deception. Often, older movies contain much more relevant information, than recent ones. After all, it's quite naive to expect the enemy to provide you with information on their own tactics. Back then, the enemy of the government were the Russians, now the enemy is the government's own people. Don't expect much useful information on psychological warfare from such propaganda channels as "History Channel" and similar ones. Such channels are tools of psychological operations themselves. They will only demonize Muslims and the militia and glorify the war on Iraq and the dismantling of the US Constitution - forget it. On the other hand, if you're somewhat experienced, you may watch these channels to study their methods of manipulation. In that sense, they unwillingly give away lots of useful information on PSYOPS.
These short films were probably made for internal training, and not meant for public use. The often quoted "Hostland" makes me think of Chile. You may know what kind of activities were supported by the US over there in Chile. CIA: "General Pinochet is a Hitler, but he is OUR Hitler." These films from 1968 are probably outdated, but much of it is still being applied today. Considering the public relations disaster in Iraq, either they haven't made much progress since then in PSYOPS, or, more likely, they simply wanted to have the kind of chaos we can see there. "Ordo ab Chao." Of course, PSYOPS can also be used to cause insurgencies instead of preventing them.
