wow! yes, if you share the links I will seed here...one book called "alien chic" looks interesting and is in line with a recent post of mine here about the changing relationship with UFOs since the 40s. which, by the way is when the CIA was formed. and is roughly the same period as the secret police in russia (30s). my working theory is that as secret police became state-sponsored our appetite for conspiracy-minded explanations grew exponentially. you can see it extremely active in the middle east today (who still peddle the idea of the protocols of the elders). I'm less sure about china -- the secret police is everything there but you hear less about rampant conspiracies.
